Dick Cheney is a complete ass.

Liz Cheney, Vice President Cheney’s daughter, wrote a memo to Hillary Clinton and had it published in the Washington Post. Mary Cheney has supported her father's stance on a number of issues in the political arena. In the real world this makes her a political figure and open to questioning and comment. The right wing media has been very hard on Mary Cheney and her decision to have a child. I mention this because if a political figure like the Vice President has a child who has injected themselves into the political arena then I think the press has an opening to ask questions. If the child, or relative, is underage or has not injected themselves willfully in the political arena then I feel the press should stay out of their lives.

Wolf Blitzer asked the Vice President a question about his daughter and this is the response he gets: Click Here

Why is this not a legitimate question? It is easy enough for the Vice President to answer. Why make the reporter feel like a jerk? Many reporters can be jerks but I do not think that is what Blitzer was trying to do here. Am I wrong?

I saw the interview on You Tube.
I think Cheney was saying that Blitzer's question about Focus on the Families criticism of his daughter and her partner's being able to raise a well adjusted child was out of line. I am sure that he did not want to go off on Focus on the Family and find himself in the middle of a battle that would distract the administration from more important issues. No doubt he could have handled the situation better but...

Hard to say if Blitzer was sincere. He sounded sincere to me but the media would love a good brawl between the administration and their allies.

I knew you would have a more level head on this one than I would. I am not a fan of Cheney and so find it hard to be objective. I would think that he would have been prepared for this question and said something like: "I am aware of the fact that there are many differing opinions on my daughter's pregnancy but she is my daughter, and I am happy to have a sixth grandchild." Instead he seemed to take it out on the messenger.
